In the current age of technology, finding a roommate doesn't have to be as daunting as it once was. That doesn't mean it's always easy! Tufts students have several resources available when searching for roommates and off-campus housing, particularly around Medford and Somerville. Many students start by asking friends and classmates, while others use Tufts housing groups and online communities to connect with students who are also looking for a place.
Another option is Tufts' official Off-Campus Housing website, which allows students to search for both housing and roommates. There are also platforms such as JumpOffCampus where students can explore off-campus listings and find potential roommates. When talking to a potential roommate, be honest about your budget, schedule, cleanliness, pets, guests, and other day-to-day habits. A quick coffee or conversation before signing a lease can help make sure you're a good match.
Remember: finding the right roommate is just as important as finding the right apartment, so start your search early and don't be afraid to ask questions!
